• Hey whats goin’ on?

Well…we had a great time playing our first show in New York City, at Desmonds Tavern! It was a pleasure and an honor to share the stage with The Guga Project, Wadada Movement, and Nova Cez Everything. The people, the music, the vibes, what a great night. We hope to do it again sometime, everyone made us feel at home that night.

There are a few clips and snippets from the show, they came out great too. However, some of the clips cut off right at transitions in our songs, leaving excruciating sonic tension. Take them as movie trailers for our songs. Check them out below!

  • boston math rockBeing a young band… by band standards… because we’re, like, old.

Or at least middle age, when it comes to musicians… we decided to take stock of what awaited us starting off in Boston.

Beings fans of math rock and most creative musics we found ourselves among great company in the Boston area.

Here are five math rock bands from Boston-ish that you should know about, and who we greatly enjoy…in no particular order. Our resident drummer Tim, (also the drummer for the band DOZE) had a show with one of the bands on our list, Ghosts of Sailors at Sea. They just released a killer new album that can be heard below.

  • photo.jpgLast week, the jobs report was kinda bad. Only 162,000 jobs were created and the estimates for the other months before that were revised. You know, because there were less jobs “created” than estimated.

Stuff gets really grim when you look at  young adult and teen employment. Because stuff sucks.

Gallup recently showed that LESS THAN HALF – 43% – of young adults age 18 – 34 are in a full-time employment position. Which also means that they probably don’t have benefits.

Meanwhile, a PBS report dramatically forecasts a potential “Arab Spring” because so many teenagers, age 16-19, are unemployed. Almost HALF of the jobs available to teenagers in the 1990s are gone.

You know all those summer jobs you may once have seen in a movie? Before Grandpa was working as a cashier, before the grocery store replaced all the cashiers with robots?

Well, teens can’t get those jobs. So they don’t work. Who’s the culprit? It begins with “tech” and ends with “nology.”

  • 449052129_542ba9b0b1What is it about math rock? Is it the constant, organized chaos of all the instruments clashing together?

The total unpredictability of the rhythm and the plain WEIRD sounds the bands produce?

Maybe it’s just the fact that no math rock band will ever, ever get famous.

Whatever it is, the harmonious chaos that is math rock makes it perfect for commuting: by car, foot, subway… land, sea or air.

Here are three of our favorites:

  • We decided we’d start off with a little somethin… multimedia somethin.

That’s supposed to help drive traffic and make people listen to us. The Jury’s still out.
